| Yahoo! Answers: oil change at 5000 miles or 3000 miles? I have 2007 Toyota Corolla with 39800 miles on it. Dealer said oil will be changed every 5000 miles. And that is how its always been. But reading on internet, it said oil must be changed 3000 miles. Since the oil has been changed every 5000 miles, does that mean the car will not have long life now? I never check the oil level and never once put any oil in it. Its all done at dealer oil change only every 5000 miles. However, at gas stations i see some people checking the oil reading in their car and pouring motor oil. Why do they that? Am I supposed to do that too? Or I don't need to do anything and dealer will just keep changing every 5000. Explain. I am not an automotive expert and don't understand anything under the hood. I only know how to drive. why are some people checking motor oil level at gas station? i never do that. Please help me what's behind this checking of oil by some people? |
