Fine step horses - Paso fino

This horse roundup brings to my mind the fine spectacle I saw this summer in the Dominican Republic when I went to a horse show/competition in Jarabacoa, in the center of the island, in the mountains.

The "paso fino" horses are something that we donīt think are known at all in the U.S., and sadly so.

Sadly, we say, because it is horsemanship at its highest expression.

These horses come from Colombia, but are imported to all countries in the area. Some are imported to the lower southern states, like Florida.

We believe that the horses are Arabian descent, but are now a strain of their own. They are bred to walk with a special stride halfway between a dance and a celebration.

Since I was a kid, I am already in love with horses. In fact when I went Texas, I didn't miss the chance of riding their horse. With my addiction to horses, I am not in favor of having a horse round up because to me, it seems like torturing my favorite animal. In fact, I want to be an animal advocacy to be the voice of some animals that were being abused.
