Yahoo! Answers: Need info on medical coding/billing PLEASE!?

Thank author of this post/commentI'm going to school for medical coding/billing, transcriptioning and office procedures and I'm confused because I keep hearing different things about it. One being that you either make a loooot of money as in possible six figures or at least about 35k, or you make less than 25k. And then I hear that the job market for it is good, and then bad? Well which one is it? I know pay varies on your skill level and the amount of money wherever you're working at rakes in but, I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me because our teacher isn't really being very clear. At all. So please help! I'd really appreciate it.

I agree that medical profession is really a good choice. You practice your skills very well once you are in the field because you are handling sensitive people and things. Basically, if you work in big hospitals most probably you will also receive big salary. Another point is that you can try getting more than two-year experience so that you will be able to enter in a prestigious company. Good luck to you.

Hi there!

When I was a little younger, I dreamed of becoming a physician, but I ended up as a teacher. Well, I idolize medical people, I believe its a tough job. I like curing and giving advices that are really helpful to the people that needs it. I hope I can make my dream come true.

Thanks you so much to all of you guys and have a great day to all!

Since I was young, I really want to be a doctor specifically a surgeon. Being in the medical field is really a great profession that any parents would really be proud of. I really admire a lot of medical experts because they have a critical job of handling the lives of people. They can also be considered as the modern hero of today's generation.

Thank you very much and have a great day.

Medical coding during the billing process are applied just for the use of the medical team. they are jargon terms that took these professionals a large chunk of their fortune and time to study and exclusively use it. they are not for us to use; well unless of course if you do some research paper on it. if you really want to know all about these codes, go to your doctor.

My rather uneducated guess or answer is that like all professions a lot depends upon how many hours you put into it, how much education you have, what your grades were, where you work, who is your boss, what sort of regulations you have in your state or county, how ambitious you are, how much overtime you put into your job, and I guess a myriad of other factors which we'd all rather weren't there, but are.
