Questions: Ok.. I am setting boundaries for my son and his new cat, "George" I h ...to have some time alone too! My four year old is really attatched to this cat, which is 7 mos. old. We lost our dog in June, and my son loves our new pet. One problem.. this cat likes to be carried by my son. My son doesn't let the cat down, until I tell him to. I am lucky that this kitty doesn't bite or scratch the kids. The kids are not abusive or mean. Have you ever faced a problem like this? Why doesn't this cat ever run into another room? How should I handle this without Matthew thinking that I am punishing him?
That is a little hard to do, especially if he knows that you do not like the cat and so if something happens to it he might blame you instantly, and you do not want that to happen. I suggest that you try to talk to your son about the cat. Try to tell him in a convincing and nice manner that he might be bitten or scratched by the cat.
That's quite a difficult situation for you. I also have a pet cat at home but I haven't encountered such kind of problem. Perhaps you have to train you cat how to go down when it needs to. Tell your son that he should be sensitive when his pet needs to go down or do something so that you won't encounter such kind of problem. Well I hope that you can overcome that.
